The ‘business’ of ROCKIN’ FOR KIDS
Interview by Paul Harrison
Publisher Athole Murray Fleming recently announced his latest project, which will raise money for childrens charities and in particular Radio Tay's Caring for Kids, and at the same time have some fun!!…….through ROCK N’ ROLL MUSIC!!
“I want to use the power of rock n’ roll to do some good!!…to quote dear old Cliff, why should the devil have all the good music?” joked Athole.
“Last year I had started to play some acoustic rock sessions in The Greyfriars Bar, South Street with local Perth musician Iain MacLagan on drums. This was great fun and I started to get exited and write rock songs again after a 25-year gap! So what do with that I thought?” continued Athole.
It was then that Athole hit on the idea of creating a band called The Original Windows and to play a small concert in the bar to raise money for charity, and at the same time hone the playing side of things as well.
After approaching local business and contacts for contributions, the whole idea really took off. With an initial target of £300 from a small concert in February, a cheque was recently presented to the Caring for Kids charity for over £7,000….and there is yet more to come from CD sales soon.
There are limited edition ROCKIN’ FOR KIDS T-SHIRTS available for £10 and the CD is currently on sale throughout Tayside for £5.00. For locations visit

Now Athole plans to put on a multi-band concert later this year, and thereafter as an annual fund raising rock event.
“We have some really exciting things in the pipeline right now which I cannot go into, suffice to say, we will hold a mix of private functions and a main event every year from now on…like I need the work!….this will become something very special for Perthshire”. Promised Athole.
