Danscot Print Ltd was started in 1975 by a Scots woman and a Danish man (hence the name) in a small office in Charlotte Street and was soon taken over by Mary Doig in 1976. In 1982 Danscot bought their town premises at 6 – 8 Kinnoull Street and transferred the printing operation to the first floor at these premises and opening a stationery shop on the ground level selling everything from coloured paper off cuts to all the fashionable phones of the 1980’s In 1990 Danscot started their cash and carry stationery warehouse at the back of Arran House in Arran road where they shared premises with Core Products (Mary’s other Business). In 1992 Danscot, now a very successful company, their customer businesses wanting to see their huge ranges of office stationery so they had to get to bigger premises and so acquired Bute House where they are still today. Within Bute house Danscot now offer a much more expansive range of services, “We like to think that we can offer any business just about everything that it may ever need from the very day they start up;” said Russell Doig. After the successful relocation to Bute House, a bigger premises was opened for the Office Furniture showroom and set up a separate department to concentrate on the sales and installation of office furniture and this department has quadrupled in sales in the last 4 years with sales not only locally but also nationally. Danscot is the perfect product source in Perthshire and have over the years been involved in the start up of 1-person businesses to large corporate bodies. The latest development at Danscot is their online ordering facility through their retails website. Although this website has been live for almost 2 years and been a sophisticated tool for finding and ordering stock Danscot have just taken it to the next level with all of their catalogue now available and a more user friendly navigation experience – simpler, easier and better! “We have invested heavily in trying to make this service as slick as possible making finding and ordering as easy and user friendly as possible”, continued Russell. These things include predictive word searching and 100% stock imaging (25000 stock items), the check out has also been upgraded to make things much quicker to place and replace orders. Now with the much improved website and the re-branding to “ukoffice4less” Danscot will be marketing their website in a much more national way hoping to achieve many more national customers and take a well deserved slice of the online market…. bringing success to Perth indeed. |
