Schwarzkopf Essential Looks Collection Autumn/Winter 05

CT Magazine caught up with Charlie, who has recently returned from training hairdressers all over the UK and South Africa in the EL Collection, to hear her comments on this season's Essential Looks collection, which is developed exclusively for Schwarzkopf.

"Finally, black is back" Said Charlie. "This year's trends pay homage to the most flattering colour in fashion with inspiration taken mainly from the icons of the silver screen."

"Hair this season is defined by the title "Glamorous Reality" and has an effortless quality, with shiny and urban textures, a contemporary glamour, and always naturally groomed."

"Schwarzkopf constantly strive for perfection when they are putting their collections together. This season, the Glamorous Reality Collection provides a real WOW factor and it has been a pleasure to roll out the collection not only in the UK but also, for the first time, in South Africa."

The Schwarzkopf Essential Looks is published twice a year and these inspiring looks come directly from the catwalk shows held in New York, London, Paris and Milan.

"The Autumn/Winter 05 collection is, as its title implies, a mix of glamour with reality. This is a shift away from the constant barrage of media images of "real women", prompted by the research that, while reality is still present in terms of feelings, moods, styles and trends, women everywhere still want a defined feel-good factor in their lives. In essence, everyone still wants a little touch of glamour."

"Here's my guide to the four main looks in the collection:

Black: (not illustrated) This is definitely THE look for the winter. Clothes and hair both reflect shades of black for both men and women. The key aspect to this look is creating texture through selective highlighting. Pure black is a daring look to wear so be sure to speak to your stylist before you take the plunge - they'll be able to work in a look that suits your natural skin tones and your hairstyle. Otherwise, dare to be dark and mysterious! Starlet: One for the girls, without a shadow of a doubt. Think fluffy slippers and frilly shirts complemented by the ultimate in Hollywood glamour: tousled locks and natural styling. This look is all about the cut, creating definition and styling that really works with the natural inclination of your hair. Add a dash of lowlights to create a bit of texture and movement and you've got it. Modernist: This is a great style for women of all ages. Based on the classic bob with a modern twist. Colour, styling, layering and texture are all critically important in making this look work for you. Glamorous in the evening but, as always, practical during the day. Voluminous: This is a great look, regardless of your length of hair and, indeed, whether you are male or female. In essence, the look is created using styling products to amplify the impact of your natural style. So, curly or straight, long or short, there's an opportunity to turn up the volume and really make a statement.
