An exciting collaboration has developed between 3 Scottish businesses...

MOON GUITARS- Renowned for quality hand-built musical instruments, Jimmy Moon's company has built it's reputation over 25 years combining fine craftsmanship with love of music.

RURAL IMAGE- Dougie MacLean's production company. MacLean (singer, songwriter, composer and international performer) is one of Perthshire and Scotland's foremost musical ambassadors.

ORTAK JEWELLERY- This company has grown over 35 years to become one of the UK's leading designers of gold and silver jewellery with a reputation for combining traditional skills with innovative design, caring craftsmanship and impeccable quality. Alasdair Gray is joint Managing Director and son of the founder.

Jimmy Moon, Dougie MacLean and Alasdair Gray were all present at the launch on June 24th at the Glasgow Royal Concert Hall and, along with teams from their three companies, were Graeme Duffin, (guitarist for Wet Wet Wet), Dave Arcari (Musicians Union), Mark Littlewood (Pelicula Films), Bob Brennan (MD of Whyte & Mackay), Andrew Bayly (Scottish Music Centre), George Falconer (Scottish Enterprise)...and many more, as well as various media representatives, musicians and 'Moon' Guitar owners.

Stemming from the Dougie MacLean's desire to play and promote a Scottish instrument rather than the top quality American guitars which he has played for years, Jimmy Moon and Dougie MacLean worked together to produce a unique and 'perfect' instrument for Dougie to play. To add the finishing touch to this beautiful instrument Alasdair Gray from Ortak was approached and was delighted to help in the development by adding their world class design and craftsmanship in the form of a wonderful piece of silver Pictish symbol jewellery to be inset into the headstock of the guitar....thus finalizing the guitar's unique Scottish identity!

It is hoped that this collaboration and the creation of this prestigious product will bring together the existing enthusiasts worldwide for Moon guitars, Dougie MacLean's music and Ortak jewellery and bring increased international recognition of the very high standard of creative work that is being done in Scotland.
