Perth - not your average city centre!
by Louise Wight

Perth is the perfect place for a special day out or stay. Excellent shopping,
eating out, entertainment, culture, leisure and sport are all within close
proximity in the city centre. Walking around the city is a pleasure. Perth is a
consistent Britain in Bloom award winner, showing a strong commitment to the
environment and the city’s streets and public gardens are filled with colour
from Easter to Autumn.
The city is flat and compact, easily navigated and proud of its safe and
friendly environment. Framed by two splendid public parks (North and South Inch)
and the striking Tay Street promenade, the city centre enjoys an enviable
location.
The city of Perth has a fantastic collection of speciality shops, where you
are sure to find a unique purchase, whether for yourself or as a gift.
A walk around Perth’s shopping centre and you will find numerous
individual, speciality shops offering unique and exclusive items. The
proprietors of these mainly family run stores have a passion for the product
they sell and a belief in a high standard of personal service to their customer,
resulting in a wonderful shopping experience.
Perth also has an abundance of eating establishments catering for all tastes,
so whether you are after a coffee and cake, a light snack or a three course meal
you are bound to find something to tantalise your taste buds.
Freshly prepared meals from the best possible local ingredients is the
predominant theme in the Perth food scene, influenced by the outstanding range
of local produce.
With excellent, good value eating-out to be found, choosing where to go is
made even more difficult. If al-fresco dining appeals, take a stroll along to
Perth’s Café Quarter on St John’s Place, where the pavement café’s lend
a distinctively Continental atmosphere to the area. Families and friends can be
found under the parasols enjoying themselves in relaxed surroundings.
